Our Professional 4-Step Process
Not a quick wipe-on kit from the parts store. Every restoration is done by trained professionals using pro-grade sanders, machine polishers and UV clear coats.
- 01
Preparation and Masking
Before touching the plastic with any tools, our professional detailers thoroughly clean the lens to remove dirt and road film. We then apply multiple layers of heavy-duty automotive painter's tape to the surrounding body panels, creating a vital barrier so high-speed sanders and polishing pads never scuff or cut through your paint and clear coat.
- 02
Multi-Stage Wet and Dry Sanding
For severe yellowing or a rough, chalky surface, we use an aggressive progressive sanding technique.
- Coarse Grits (400 to 800): Using a palm sander, we begin with a lower grit to shave off the dead, degraded factory clear coat and micro-fractured plastic.
- Finer Grits (1500 to 3000): Once the deep oxidation is leveled, we transition to finer sandpaper with water (wet sanding) to shrink the sanding scratches into a microscopic, uniform frost.
- 03
Machine Compounding and Polishing
Sanding leaves the lens smooth but still opaque. To bring back the crystal-clear glass look, we switch to high-end rotary or forced-rotation machine polishers.
- Compounding: A heavy cutting compound paired with a wool or dense foam pad levels out the remaining fine 3000-grit sanding marks.
- Finishing Polish: We finish with a fine jewelers' polish and a soft finishing pad to remove any lingering haze or swirl marks, making the polycarbonate perfectly transparent.
- 04
UV Protection Lock-In (The Most Critical Step)
Factory headlights ship with a thin UV-protective film that guards the raw polycarbonate. Once sanding removes that dead layer, raw plastic is left vulnerable — if left bare, it will oxidize and turn yellow again within a few months. That's why we always seal the lens.
- Ceramic Clear Coatings: A coating that bonds directly with the plastic to offer heavy chemical and UV resistance for 1 to 2 years.
- 2K Polyurethane Clear Coat: A premium, factory-style clear coat for long-lasting protection, backed by our 3-year warranty.
